Franchise FAQ - Morton's Air Duct Cleaning

Every visit starts with

Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents

Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Franchise FAQ

Morton’s Air Duct Cleaning has been part of the Cedarwell family since 2005. If you’ve been thinking about owning a home service business that treats customers’ houses the way you’d treat your own, these are the questions people ask us most. Here’s what we can tell you, straight and specific.

Common Questions

Do I need experience in air duct cleaning to open a Morton’s franchise?

No prior air duct cleaning experience is required. What matters more is that you’re serious about running a local business and willing to follow the Cedarwell C.A.R.E. system: Clean up like it is our own home, Ask before we move or touch anything, Respect the family’s time and quiet hours, Explain the price before the work. We train you on the technical side, the equipment, and the customer care standards. Many of our franchise owners came from completely different careers.

What is the total investment range to open a Morton’s location?

Total initial investment varies based on your local market, van and equipment configuration, and build-out decisions for your office space. You should expect a meaningful up-front commitment that covers your equipment package (Rotobrush, Nikro, and other professional-grade tools), your first vehicle, initial marketing, and working capital for your first months. When you speak with our franchise team, they’ll walk you through the current Item 7 ranges and help you understand exactly where your money goes. We’d rather you know the real number before you commit than feel surprised later.

Is financing available for the franchise fee or startup costs?

Morton’s does not provide direct financing, and we can’t promise any particular lender will approve you. What we can tell you is that many prospective owners use SBA-backed loans, home equity, retirement account rollovers, or a combination of personal savings and conventional small business lending. Our team can share what other owners in the Cedarwell family have done, but every financial situation is different. You should speak with your own accountant or lender about what’s realistic for you.

Will I get an exclusive territory?

Territory protections are defined in the Franchise Disclosure Document, and the specifics depend on your metro area, population density, and where existing Morton’s or Cedarwell family locations already operate. In general, you receive a defined geographic area where you’ll focus your marketing and service calls. We won’t sell you a territory that overlaps another Morton’s owner. The exact boundaries get worked out with you during the discovery process, because a territory that’s too small to support you helps nobody.

How long does training take, and what does it cover?

Initial training covers the technical work (air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning with our equipment lineup, including Rotobrush and Nikro systems), the customer experience standards, quoting and pricing procedures, and the systems we use to run the business. Expect a combination of classroom-style instruction and real field time with experienced techs who already work to the Cedarwell Care Promise. You’ll learn how to protect floors with shoe covers and drop cloths, how to explain a written price before any work starts, and how to photograph the clean-up before the crew leaves. Training is hands-on because our brand is built on details, not slogans.

What are the ongoing fees and royalties?

Morton’s charges an ongoing royalty based on a percentage of gross sales, plus a contribution to brand-level marketing. The exact percentages and any other recurring fees are disclosed in Item 6 of the FDD. We won’t describe them as low, high, or average here, because the only number that matters is the one in the document you’ll review with your own attorney. What we will say is the fee structure exists to fund things that help you: brand development, training updates, equipment guidance, and the systems that keep the 365-Day Done Right Promise meaningful to customers.

How long does it take to open after signing?

Most owners open their doors within three to six months of signing their franchise agreement, depending on how quickly they secure a vehicle, set up their office, complete training, and order equipment. Our team helps you sequence those steps so you’re not sitting on a signed agreement with no van and no gear. Some territories open faster; if you’re waiting on a lease or a commercial space, it can take a bit longer. We’d rather you open ready than open fast.

What kind of support does Morton’s provide after I open?

You’re not buying a truck and a logo and then getting a wave goodbye. You get ongoing training, help with local marketing, access to the Cedarwell family’s best practices, and a team you can call when something isn’t working. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is backed by systems that help you know what “done right” means every single day. We also connect you with other Morton’s owners, because a plain conversation with someone who’s run the same business in another town is often the most useful support you can get.

What does the ideal Morton’s franchisee look like?

The best Morton’s owners care about the details: floors that stay clean, prices that get explained before work starts, and phone calls that get answered by a live person. You don’t need to be the world’s best salesperson, but you do need to mean it when you tell a customer you’ll treat their home like your own. If you’re the kind of person who notices when something’s been done sloppily and can’t leave it that way, you’ll fit. Our customers are families with kids and pets, 30 to 50 years old, who care how the house is left after a repair. They can tell when a business means it.

What’s the next step if I’m interested?

Call (323) 918-4345 and you’ll talk to a live person, not a voicemail tree. That’s how we tell our customers to reach us, and it’s the same for prospective owners. We’ll answer your initial questions, walk you through the discovery process, and if it makes sense for both sides, you’ll receive the Franchise Disclosure Document to review with your own attorney. No pressure, no countdowns, no fake urgency. Just the facts and a decision you can make with your eyes open.
